If All Else Fails. . . Bake

I love cooking and baking, all be it I'm not the best actually no where near to be honest, but at least I'm enthusiastic. Thing is I'm limited, I only enjoy cooking chocolate and things and I know I like . My number one favourite thing to cook with is chocolate . After that is's sweet things and things that aren't really the best for you. When Mike's over I find that I cook a lot more things, we've tried quite a few things.
When he was over this time he discovered shortbread biscuits and really liked them. So I decided to make some of my own. They are so easy to make.

All you need to make them is:

Before you start put your oven onto 190C
Then beat the butter and sugar together, you might need a whisk, unless you have massive biceps!
Stir the four into the mixture to make a paste.
Then on a work surface sprinkle some plain flour, this will stop the paste from sticking to it.
Gently roll out the mixture until it is about 1cm thick.
This is part where you get to have some fun, now you can cut the mixture into whatever shapes you want. I normally go for boring traditional rectangle shapes.
Place them onto a baking tray and sprinkle them with icing sugar and chill them in the fridge for 20 minutes.
After the 20 minutes bake them in the oven for around 15-20 minutes or until they slightly turn golden brown.
Set the aside to cool, then after that dig in and enjoy!

125g/4oz butter
55g/2oz caster sugar
180g/6oz plain flour

This normally makes 20-24 rectangle fingers.

These are the ones I made, as you can see I'm not the best at cutting straight lines, still they went down nicely.

Do blonde's really have more fun?

I finally did it. I finally got the confidence to dye my hair. I had been talking about doing it for quite a while so one day I just decided to get it done . I let Mike choose the colour. I knew I wanted to go a shade of brown, maybe chestnut, mahogany or a lighter brown. In the end Mike choose a medium brown. I let him dye it for me too, neither of us knew what we were doing really so it was bit of an experiment. He did a really good job with it, he put all the dye in, massaged it in and then washed it out for me too. I only got nervous when it came to drying it and seeing just how it looked. When it was wet I felt like crying it was SO dark. I was prepared for it to look dark but not black! Luckily it got lighter when it was dry and after styling it I got to see it properly. I wasn't so sure at first, it just didn't seem like me. I thought I looked bland and boring, now that its been 6 weeks I've got used to it. I'm still not sure if I prefer being blonde, maybe I'll try find a colour in between the two. At least now I'm saving myself £90 trips to the hairdressers :o

The result.

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder.

Whoops, I havent blogged for so long! And in that time so much has happened, Mike has gone :( He was here for 2 months and it was literally the best feeling having him back. Its just so nice not having to rely on Facebook or Skype to talk. Also it makes me realise how much I actually miss him when he's not here . So now he's gone again its a massive blow. I'm not the best person at goodbye's anyway I become this big crying blubbering mess, not the best image for Mike to leave with haha, its a miracle he comes back! So getting used to being on my own again will take a bit of time, having to only cook for one and not having to constatnly worry if he's bored or trying to think of things to do. But at least I wont have to go around picking up dirty washing :)

So basically my next few blogs are going to be catch ups of the things we did, places we went and general bits and pieces that happened in that time.
