I Wanna See Your Peacock.

Last Saturday was Faye's 21st birthday so we carried on her tradition of a annual pubcrawl. This year the theme was animals. Everyone always makes a huge effort for her birthday, and I think this year everyone out did themselves. I had spent the previous week surrounded by about 500 feathers. I ordered 100, 4 foot peacock feathers for our tails, and then bought 3 packs of turquoise feathers to cover the corset. Soon after starting the corset I realised I needed more like 50 packs. So I went back to the shop to buy some more, but they had completely sold out and the business they get them from went into liquidation... queue PANIC!! I ended up having to buy a similar colour feather boa then pull off the feathers then sew them all back on the corset one by one . Safe to say I do not want to see a sewing needle for a long long long time . Im still finding little bits of feathers all over my house.

The day was fantastic fun though. Every year even if it has been torrential rain all month on Faye's birthday the sun always comes out. This year however wasn't quite like that. It kept raining throughout the day so we had to strategically time our walks/runs between pubs. Faye's favourite animal is a Tiger, so obviously she went as one . My friend Amy is the most talented artistic person I know, we all go straight to her when we need something even slightly arty done . She makes all our birthday cards. And she did Faye's face-paint too, I was blown away, she did it in around 20 minutes!

Have a look at how good it is:

I was pleased with how mine and Biff's costumes turned out. The tails were a nightmare to make, but after I made the first one and figured out how to do it, the second one was a lot easier. I sellotaped each feather down onto cardboard then layered them on top of each other, then sandwiched them in  the cardboard, and then slipped the whole thing down between our backs and corset.

This is Me, Faye and Amy, she looked amazing as a zebra, she even did her own face paint. She mohawked her hair and braided black hair extensions into it to make stripes. She is one talented girl.

This is the group of us that was walking around. As you can tell we kinda stood out, and it's safe to say we got a few funny looks along the route.

Throughout the day everyone was posing as their animals, I've now learnt Peacocks are quite boring. They don't really do anything. The only pose me and Biff could think of was an over exaggerated hand on hip. It just makes me look like a right poser in the pictures, but ah well I can now go back to pulling strange faces and looking like a goof.

I had such a good day, cant wait for next year, I'm sure Faye will let us know the theme soon enough.

Flossy x
